I know that SAA is prolific & well-loved; this was my first time reading her writing. It was…sort of a mixed bag. I liked her characters. I thought they were sweet. I enjoyed the magical elements (especially the ghosts) and the light romance. It bothered me that Charlotte, blonde & boho, supported herself by doing henna (cultural appropriation). The worst of it, though, was the sheer number of similes and metaphors per page. It was a little absurd. 😬

I deeply enjoyed listening to this book. I really loved the tendrils of ghosts lingering amongst each character and why their specific ghost sticks around. Zoey is so very young and you can’t help but hope nothing bad happens to her. She moves into her late mother’s apartment at the Dellawisp to learn who she was. She meets now friends and brings new meaning to the Dellawisp along the way. It’s a sweet book with a satisfying ending.

A little slow and the character's decisions feel plot-driven and not authentic. Took me a little while to get into because there are a lot of characters and names. I didn't feel connected to some immediately and you have to care about the characters since there's little plot.

I did not like the redemption of Elizabeth. It was forced and not deserved.

Such a sweet story of love, overcoming trauma, and found family. It took me a bit longer than I expected to connect with the characters but it was a platonic slow burn and by the end I got emotional for all of them!

Too many characters for the length of the book to have in depth character development.

This one was okay. I didn't really understand or know what the point of the book was for a lot of it.
A girl moves to this condo complex where her now dead mother used to live. She never fit in with her dad, stepmom, and step-siblings. Other residents are reclusive until the most annoying resident dies. The girl, Zoey, gets the residents to talk and be friends.
A story about the ghosts of our past impacting our present lives/futures and letting go of them. Meh
