Beautiful book, read after the seeing the TV show multiple times which probably impacts the rating. Unconsciously read the whole book in an Irish accent.

GOD this so satisfied my craving for a book like Alone With You In The Ether by Olivie Blake. There were only two things I wished:

1) That we saw more of Marianne’s family.

2) That Lorraine’s character was a little more,,,mom-like. It felt weird to me that Connell called her by her name, and also that she treated him more like an older sister at times. That could be due to the smaller age gap, since she had him so young, but it still put me off a little bit.

Can I say something? The ending of this book makes zero sense. The overall story? Chef's kiss!

Another thing that kinda bugged me was the lack of quotation marks. They simply don't exist in this one. Took me far too long to get used to.

Overall a great story. Just a really shitty ending.

This was a weird one for me. I felt myself not really able to relate to the characters, and was sometimes even annoyed by them, but I was rooting for them at the same time. Because I know that this book is probably extremely relatable for a lot of people, I totally understand the draw to it and why so many people love it. There were a lot of beautiful quotes, and small things here and there that did hit home for me. The writing style took me a while to get used to. I don't like that the dialogue isn't separated with quotation marks, and some of the European lingo and style of talking made it a bit difficult to read smoothly. Overall a pretty decent book.
