It started off interesting, but then by the time of the courtroom scene it devolved into caricature, too stark a division of good guys / bad guys. Disappointing.

An enjoyable story set in the Retrieval Artist series!

This is a nice little novella if you have been reading the earlier _Retrieval Artist_ books. I love the Miles Flint character, and it had been so long since I read a book from this series that I didn't even remember Van Allen at first. I look forward to reading some of the more recent efforts.

This short novel takes place in Rusch's Retrieval Artist universe, though it is not necessary to have read the series. Miles Flint does make an appearance, but he is not central to the story. It does raise interesting questions about family and abuse. It is also a good twist on possession stories, this time with a sci-fi twist.
