Very moving, especially being the mother of *that* kid. Brilliant read, probably more for adults, lovely stuff.

Tears in my eyes as I write this review. So many teachers I want to thank and should. Being a teacher is hard work but I love it.

This is just a really sweet book, and any teacher who has had a student that has been difficult but ultimately rewarding will definitely be able to relate to this one.

A former student writes a letter of appreciation to a teacher.

I’d be lying if I said “this didn’t make me cry.” Yup, full-on watery eyes and remembrances of my own letters that I wrote to three teachers upon graduating for college. I also had a touch of regret at never having had the chance to tell my childhood librarian “I became a librarian! And it was because of you and how awesome you were to me as a child!” (She died before I finished library school.)

What a terrific story with great illustrations. Run and grab this book - then thank a teacher!

Hopkinson's sweet and touching story subtly stresses the tremendous, lasting impact that teachers can have on their students.

A must have in your classroom library. Wonderful book to read at the end of the year. Nice reminder to teachers as well that sometimes we don’t see all the impact we are making.

This is a beautiful story about a patient, compassionate teacher and how she engages with a student who is not perfect. It’s a great story about perspectives, and I feel it’s more for teachers to read when they feel they’re struggling—it’s a powerful thank-you for teachers’ hard work.
