I love Meg Cabot's wit and charm in the other novels that I have read of hers.  The insta-romance was hard to believe in this book.  It almost seemed like Drew defaulted to being with Bree.  He was grumpy towards her at the beginning and too quickly wanted to date her?  Not my kind of thing.  I definitely prefer more of a slow burn with long lingering glances.

Was this book good? No! Did I have fun reading it simply because everyone was so dumb in it? YES!!!
As a native floridian it was so funny that our main character was so unaware and so unprepared for the category 5 hurricane which
did not actually destroy anything really despite it being so hyped up

I enjoyed this book but I feel like there is not much more to say about it.
It is your standard good romance book including:
- a handsome playboy
- small town gossip
- lots of pets
- beautiful scenery (I really want to go to Little Bridge Island now - or at least to any coastal small town)
- a strong and cool female protagonist who though sometimes obnoxiously independent is still very lovable and only annoying on very few occasions
- rich backgrounds but still down to earth people who help the poor
- famous parents
- toxic rich ex-boyfriends
- lots of dogs and other pets (I know I said that already but seriously, it's like the main plot point of the book)
- a hurricane and 'cut of from other people' experience

If this sounds like something you would enjoy, go ahead and read it ;) It was really enjoyable but if you're not into standard tropy romance books you will probably not like this one either.

A quick fun read. Love that the conflict was resolved well and there was no crazy angst between couple and they communicate well together. The conflict for her isn’t the romance but regarding her personal past life and he is just supportive and backed her up. Refreshing read.

This is the story about a girl who is dumb enough to stay on an island that's about to be hit by a major hurricane because she doesn't want to be called a "freshwater" (aka someone who is too new to the island to know how to handle themselves in a storm). She has some serious insta-love with a not-quite-enemy (just an overall unlikeable guy with a drinking problem) and saves some pets who were abandoned in the storm. Then her awful ex and his even more awful BFF (someone who sexually assaulted her) show up and she decides the best way to handle it is to pull a gun on them and scare them off. WHAT DID I JUST READ. This was not a good book. I was so uncomfortable the entire time.
