Meg Cabot

3.28 AVERAGE

Fun read. Takes place on Little Bridge Island where a category 5 hurricane is set to hit… your classic local being mean to the new girl and then of course, falling for her.

2.5⭐️

I love Meg Cabot and I love the Keys, so I thought I was going to absolutely adore this book, but I didn't. It was cute and fun, a perfect beach read, but it was missing something extra to make it memorable. It wasn't bad by any means, just a little disappointing.

3.5 stars!

i understand why people didn't enjoy this one, but i'm such a meg cabot stan and i really love her easy-going writing style that i pretty much am guaranteed to enjoy her stuff every time. by the way, this was my first adult meg cabot book and i'm not disappointed at all!!

the last 20% of this book was so wild????? i swear there were like 30 different things that were thrown in there at the end which is why this book isn't perfect, but i really liked the ending so that made up for it.

a lot of people have said that they can't get over the main character's stupidity/her decision to stay in what is predicted to be the path of a very strong hurricane. and while i want to agree to a certain extent, i think there is a passage in the book that does explain why people stay in their homes during storms like this. not everyone CAN evacuate and not everyone can AFFORD to evacuate. sometimes evacuating requires you to straight up leave your state to find a place to stay and that isn't always possible for others. now, that doesn't necessarily apply to the main character, but i do believe that there were circumstances in which she felt like she couldn't leave and i understood her decision.

i thought the romance was cute, it wasn't the most developed thing in the world, but it was still cute. plus all of the animals??? there was no way i wasn't going to like this book.

Very cute read. Classic Meg Cabot.

It's March 2020, and there's a pandemic. I'm honestly not in a place to enjoy a story about a woman who ignores all the warnings from experts and puts herself and others in danger to prove a point. I tried, but the character isn't likable or interesting enough to get me past the premise. -DNF @ Chapter 7.5

Audiobook narrator Piper Goodeve is fine.

Super cute

This was a perfect quarantine read for a beach girl. It's light and sweet and I loved escaping to a hot and sunny island with these fun characters
