the premise for this book seemed interesting but the execution was just…not good. the writing was weird and so was the pacing and there wasn’t a lot of chemistry between the characters AND it was very insta love. but it was just an easy little romance so it wasn’t terrible
adventurous emotional funny hopeful informative inspiring lighthearted relaxing fast-paced

This is one of those books that I am so grateful to have read, I wish I could reach out and thank Meg Cabot for writing it. I won’t spoil anything, but there are some very serious subjects brought up, and they are written in a way that made me feel understood. This is a book I know I will turn to again and again in the future when I need comfort. I can’t recommend it enough.

I think I would have liked this book a lot better if Drew hadn’t gone into pack mentality nonsense. I’m sure the rest of the plot was good, but I quit halfway when Drew called himself alpha. Yepper, I’m done.

This was kind of cute and very quick but I wouldn't really call it good. The characters were pretty one dimensional and the plot was pretty boring. Even with the hurricane, there never really seemed to be any urgency to anything and it was over pretty quickly. I definitely thought it would play a bigger part in the overall advancement of the romance and plot but it really was just a device to get the characters together. It was just over, there was very little damage, but nobody could get back to the island so the character joined up and then got together. Pretty predictable and as I said above, there just wasn't much to make me care about either character. They were just very flat.
It's unfortunate because the set up was cute and the small beach community on the island setting was fun but otherwise just not much to get excited about. It offered nothing new or unique or even very memorable to the romance genre and was pretty disappointing. Also, I really hated how they dealt with that thing that happened in her past. Both with how it happened as we were told and how she dealt with it in the present. That one scene just didn't seem to fit. And I really hate it when guys are all, "tell me where he is and I'll kill him." I hate that reaction every single time. But that's just a me thing.
If you're a huge Meg Cabot fan or love books with animals in them, it might be worth reading. I haven't read much of her books so I don't know if this is typical or not, but if you like a little more depth and emotion and intrigue with your romance, skip this one.
