Mara Wilson can definitely call herself a "storyteller." This book put a voice to her of course but also impacted me as a woman, someone with depression/anxiety, and addressed the concept of "fitting in." It's also pretty hilarious. Definitely would recommend, although it gets a little redundant towards the end. Worth the read fo sho.

I love Mara Wilson in Matilda and Mrs. Doubtfire, and I love her book just as much.
She was candid and it felt very real. Remembering that she is my age and having many similar struggles, it was nice to be reminded that some things really are quite common.
I enjoyed learning more about her acting as well as what she’s been up to more recently. It was also a unique response to learning about Robin Williams.
I appreciate what she has done with this book and I would certainly read another.

I was a fan of Mara's as a kid, as most women my age probably were, and I enjoy her Twitter. She's witty and is a good writer, but I did not expect her book to resonate with me the way that it did.
Her essays on having anxiety and OCD as a child and young adult particularly spoke to me as someone who was diagnosed as a teenager; coincidentally, I read the same book, Kissing Doorknobs, that Mara mentions to come to terms with my own diagnosis.
Regardless of your own experiences, I love how she parses together stories from her childhood and life in the form of several small essays instead of a typical long memoir. It's a worthwhile read for anyone who enjoys her movies or writings on social media.

This is a heartfelt book about being awkward, trying to fit in, and finally finding yourself and your place in the world. I loved Matilda as a child, and I've enjoyed Mara Wilson's performance in Welcome to Night Vale and her twitter feed for a few years now as an adult. She's good people, and this is a good way to get to know her better. It's okay to be a little "off" in your head, and there are ways to manage it while still being you, and that's good.
