I enjoyed this book. The story was good and the action sections were well written. I liked the characters in this story and while they fit some of the stereotypes for there jobs or roles they were still good characters.
The author does a good job of keeping the story moving forward and it reads pretty quick. So if your looking for something fun that is a quick read pick this up.

3.75. A fun and interesting adventure with quite a few characters. The landscape and various settings were richly described. I wish the dialogue had been more realistic (sometimes felt more soap-opera like).

Overall, this wasn't bad at all. I think there were some parts that could've been edited down - I felt like some of the direction was lost at times. I thought this was a romp though, and I liked the blend of real-life and fiction.

This was an Indiana Jones type thriller set in Oman. A fun read, with some ancient history thrown in.

In my quest for a decent action/adventure author, James Rollins was recommended to me. This book is indeed some kind of mix between Jason Bourne and Indiana Jones. I really enjoyed all the mystical and ancient ingredients throughout the book. Also I can't complain about a lack of action or chasing scenes. So why did I only mildly enjoy it? Partly because the lack of character explanation; I finished the book and still don't have the feeling I know much about the main character or the love interest or anyone else for that matter; I kept mixing up names and characters since they all seemed the same. Another part is that I read a Dutch translation that was often so bad that it interrupted the flow of the story, which I'm sure made the action scenes less enjoyable. Overall, the story had real potential, but it just didn't grip me like it should have. I'll be going on to the next action/adventure author.
