Tears of Tess

I read the Pennies series and I really liked it but this book seemed much darker. I thought the beginning was realistic and gritty but her reaction to Q was unbelievable to me. I would have preferred a bit more hatred first. I didn't enjoy the middle of the book and then it picked up again at the end. I don't understand the serious pain thing so not really the series for me.

Um. Whoa.

I’m unsure how to review this. I liked the premise of the story, but the execution was flawed. The story was well written.
If Q’s mission was to save and repair slaves, then why didn’t he just tell Tess that. It makes no sense.
Everyone kept acting like she was in the wrong, but as far as she knew he was just as bad as any other sex trafficker. He kept saying he wanted to rape her, not just role play.
Seriously, not how he treated all the other slaves.
Then the sparrow room incident. How is that ok?
How is that supposed to repair/help a slave?
And Suzzette? WTH. She has no problem with the way he treated her. Was eager to encourage it. Sick. Then she was raped, and sure he tended to her, but then he touched her and more. I’m sorry she would have had significant internal injuries, and he just expected her to submit, and she did? Unrealistic. Then they did a scene while he was drunk. That is so far from safe. He always left her after an encounter. Aftercare? There was none. They never had an interaction when he wasn’t awful to her, and
she just wanted to stay. She actually came back.
The only people I liked in the were the cook and Franco.

DNF, officially not a fan of this author. I cannot get into the story or characters and the writing distracts me. It's shallow and just not great.

When I saw this was a captive kind of story, I had to read it. I really enjoy a beauty and the beast vibe, which is what I got off of this book.

Tess is going to Mexico with her boyfriend Brax. Tess wants to come clean to her boyfriend about what she ‘really’ wants out of the relationship, she wants passion, hot dominating sex. Brax however is more into vanilla, Tess doesn’t want to scare him off as they both rely heavily on each other a lot.

Tess and Brax find themselves in a scary situation, where Tess gets stolen away for trafficking.
The person who gets Tess is Q, he’s a monster, a beast just waiting to be set free.
He wants a woman to break, can Tess be that woman. She says she won’t break, she also wants to know all of Q’s secrets as well as try and break free.
Does she really want to be free of Q, and go back to her old settled life with Brax?

This book was phenomenal. I think it is my favourite of Pepper Winters books.

You have to read it.

Firstly, I absolutely LOVE the cover, it's just gorgeous!

Ah-fucking-mazing!!!!! (Sorry for the language but it so called for it!!) This book just blew me away, I've so been taken to the dark side and I LIKE it!!! lol. It's now over 24hrs since I finished the book and I'm still thinking about it, I haven't even attempted to read anything new yet.

This is Pepper Winters debut novel and she has done such a brilliant job, she has a beautifully unique writing style that really opens up to you and you become apart of the story. Every emotion Tess felt, I felt. Every intense, scary, painful, exciting, thrilling, smouldering, panty wetter moment (Sorry, but there are many in this story LOL), you're feeling it too. Just the Prologue alone had me hooked, but with every turn of the page I got in deeper and deeper.

Tess, she's living a normal, plain old life, she's in love and happy. But there's something that she's been suppressing for awhile now; Tess has dark fantasies (who doesn't have those to some extent). She's completely ashamed of these thoughts and feelings, and hates herself for them.

Tess's boyfriend Brax (the "normal" type boyfriend) decides to surprise her with a romantic getaway to Cancun, Mexico and this is when she thought she could show him a little of the real Tess.

Excitement soon turns into complete and utter fear, after having a day of adventure they stop at a cafe and Tess knew before she even walked into the place that something bad was gonna happen.

Can you imagine being kidnapped and than sold to a complete stranger, someone who could do anything they wanted to you and you couldn't do a damn thing?! I was so scared for her, I went misty eyed so many times I wanted to jump in and kick these psycho's butts.

Tess is an amazing character, the strength and courage she possess's is just wow... I'm in such awe of her. After everything she goes through she still will fight till the end. When she (we) meet Q everything starts to change. Q is a scary, dominant, f'n hot, dark man (he'll bring a little something dark out in all of us). This man just oozes pure lust! Once we get to know him and start to understand him, he really isn't as scary as he seems. I know I speak for myself and quite a few other ladies (^_^) he's won my heart. (Once you go Q, you never go back!!) ;-)

I can't WAIT to read Q's story, just to get inside that man's head... phew! *fans face*

I could seriously go on forever but I really don't wanna give much more away, this book needs to be slowly devoured...just sink your teeth into it and Q will be there to tie you up and entertain you fully.
