It lacks the tension that I seek in thriller books. The pacing was too slow that whenever it gets intense, the tension suddenly evaporates. On the other hand, although I had correctly predicted who is Him, Riley Sager did a good job in making it not too obvious for the readers.

I really didn’t like this book lmao the women are so male-centered, the characters suck, it’s not satisfying, unnecessary sex scenes (although not super explicit). But I finished it.

Solid 3.5⭐️ I enjoyed the beginning and the ending but I’m not a fan of the themes that happened in the middle.

I hoped to like this more than I did. To be fair, I read Final Girl Support Group before this a year ago and found myself making a lot of comparisons that were perhaps unfair. Both Sager and Hendrix are autobuy authors for me so I had to give it a chance, even with their similarities.  

Pros: I love a Riley Sager plot twist and I followed the red herrings and loved not expecting the twist.

Cons: very slow for the first 70% of the book, left with a very meh feeling overall, the ending I didn't love (not the plot twist....the actual ending). 

Not my favorite Riley Sager book.

I'm so glad I finally made my way back to this book. It was Sager's "first" work- under this pen name, at least- but since I didn't discover his books until Home Before Dark was released, I hadn't gotten to it yet. While I wouldn't say it was my favorite of his books to date, having read all but one of them now, I still absolutely loved it and can see why it launched his career so well. I didn't see the ending coming, and while there were definitely some flaws, overall it was a really fun read that I wanted to pick up every time I had a spare few minutes.
