In a graphic novel you can just have things happen with little explanation. It’s a medium where I can easily suspend my disbelief. This time I was missing some context. You discovered little things, but you don’t know anything about this world and how it works.
The art is lovely and the characters work in creating tension and a haunted atmosphere. Looking at the content in the story it’s a little bare. I had a fun time breezing through this.

Beautiful artwork, not sure I fully understood everything. Going to think about it more before I write my full review.
I love E.M. Carroll’s art. The art alone in this one is 5 stars for sure! It was delightfully creepy. The story itself was just a little too short. I feel like it would’ve benefited so much more from just a little more exploration.
Still a good, short, horror graphic novel and I would definitely recommend to fans of this author/artist

It's ultimately slightly too vague (and perhaps also short) for my taste, but the art and atmosphere is excellent and absolutely horrifying. There's a certain scene that almost feels like a jump scare, amazing stuff.
Edit: Shortly after complaining about the lack of a digital copy, I looked up Carroll's website and discovered that it's actually sold under https://store.silversprocket.net/products/digital-pre-order-when-i-arrived-at-the-castle-by-emily-carroll . Kinda strange to have it there but not on bigger storefronts but hey, it's there!
