This is dark and creepy and chilling.
I definitely think this would be one that folks would either absolutely love or absolutely hate. It leads you to the conclusion with implication and suggestion rather than outright telling you WTF is going on. imo that just adds to the vibe and I found it so fun and engaging and just so cleverly done!!
It reminded me a lot of a grimm’s fairy tale but also of Bluebeard which was my fave story as a kid.

love the art as alway from emily carroll, but it was a bit hard to follow the story.
i felt like we had this creepy manor where a vampire lives and she kills thos who wander to her castle, and the girl who ends up at her door (is somehow responsible for sending people her way??? so she feel guilt???), and she's resolved to kill her herself.
it's horror with lush writing and some erotic themes, but the story was all over the place, and it was too short.

as always, emily carroll's art is abolutely mesmerizing and i'll pick up anything she ever does. she can do atmospheric horror fairy tale vibes like no other but i am confused and need more information

I should probably read and study the art in this book about a hundred more times before saying anything about it. It's dense in its quickly read 72 pages. But I think that's part of the pleasure of this spooky tale. And by the end the complete lack of clarity (at least to me) is superceded by the grand full page spreads of sticky blood.
