Any visually stunning comic from this author, although the story presented here was harder to follow and not as exciting as some of the author’s other comics. It has plenty of beautiful spreads and some great scares inside, and was worth the short time it took to finish.

In this comic, Emily Carroll takes traditional myths and fairy tales and twists them into her own narrative. The result is a dark tale reminiscent of Angela Carter, with visually striking artwork.
The main character, a cat-like woman, arrives at the vampire's castle to kill her but is distracted from her goal. There have been others before her, but it's not clear what happened to them, or whether she's as innocent as she first appears.
I did enjoy this book, but wasn't entirely sure what was happening towards the end.

Interesting and beautiful illustrations, but I'd have liked a bit more to the story itself.
Not quite up to her usual standard in my opinion but good all the same.

2.5 stars. Extremely quick read (it's the length of one of the short stories in her earlier YA collection Through the Woods) that's deliciously spooky, atmospheric, and decidedly adult. The problem is I don't really get it? What happened, someone please explain it to me.
