important compilation, glad i read it

This has been an incredible project - in Savage's and Miller's minds they can't have thought this would have such an impact. I don't know how many videos have been made at this point, but I would have never guessed that the videos would include sports figures, TV stars, politicians and so many other people.

I am glad that this book also exists for those who can't get to the Internet or just want something they can look at over and over again. I think the mix of stories in the book is well done and the editors should be proud of this anthology.

This project is not aimed at me. I hope that the kids it is designed for do get the message. It does get better.

As I wrote in my South Sound Book Review Council review (http://www.southsoundbrc.org/), every middle and high school library should have a copy of this book. So also should every public library. Just the presence of this book in a library is a signal that the building is (hopefully) a safe space for everyone.

At this point, though, It Gets Better is more than just a great message that we should promote. It's also a national phenomenon - a part (and not an insignificant one) of our changing collective paradigm. It Gets Better has made a difference. It has changed the world.

Already.
And it's only a couple years old.

Buy this book. Display this book. Read this book. And be touched by the stories and the way our world is changing. Becoming better.

It's not enough, but that doesn't make it untrue.

**Ivan Coyote wrote something here that I adored, but I'm not sure it'll show up below this review bc it's not technically by Dan Savage, so isn't associated with this book. Ivan said "Bullies are almost always outnumbered by the bullied. We just need to organize.”

Finished this one late as well, I was busy.
But glad I finished it. A very enjoyable read. Learning about how a lot of different people of race, religion, etc survive as homosexuals.
I never want anyone to commit suicide, it's the saddest thing ever.

The whole project is amazing of course. Coordinated and vocal pushback against homophobic bullying in this country is long overdue. All they really had was hoping LGBT kids knew so little about how small the world they were living in was that they would submit to the "authority" figures around them and believe that the closet was their only option. A really good mix of celebrity and regular folk testimony about how small the world we all grow up in really is and how much you can make the life you want when you grow up even, and especially, if you're LGBT.

The focus is obviously aimed at teenagers, but you'll have to trust me when I tell you the messages are helpful for a 35-year-old late bloomer struggling with the same issues.

Strongly recommended for anyone you might feel needs the message.

Seemed fairly good. Eventually abandoned

Great for individuals in the LGBTQ population who need a little extra support and love... I plan on using some of the stories in session...

Really enjoyed the sections I read. Can definitely see why this book has meant so much to people who identify as lgbtq+. 💕💕
