This book is wonderful. I wish I could give it more than five stars.
Bardugo masterfully builds a fantasy world that entices and excites. I was always on the edge of my seat during high climax moments, as her writing style built up suspense perfectly. Besides from the fantasy aspect of the novel, its strongest aspect is THE CHARACTERS. With POV chapters, it's hard not to fall in love with each character, and look forward to when the POV will switch just so you can perceive everything from each perspective. Many moments of funny, heartwarming banter between the characters to make you get attached to this cast. Another beautiful aspect of this story is its ability to tackle and represent various forms of grief, all unique, and the process of healing and finding comfort in family. The balance of plot as well as character development, which often work hand in hand, is perfect.
Often times, I say that a well integrated romance is vital to any fantasy novel. And in this case, Bardugo did not disappoint. The novel follows three different couples (each extremely, extremely wonderful), and they ALL had me swooning. In particular, I think Kaz and Inej are the most beautiful fantasy couple I have ever read (but that's a wholeeeeee other post).
All in all, Bardugo's language draws you in, wrapping you up in the exciting environment and characters of this series. Her words flow poetically, revealing a character's inner workings in a beautiful (and sometimes subtle) manner.

It’s hard to get into but by Part 3 the story really picks up! Lots of twists and turns, especially in the end!

WOWW. I mean wowww. That was incredible. I’ve never read anything like it. There was so much action and a lot of little things that once I realized what tricks were done I was like “HECK YEAH!”. This was a really good read, lots of fun. Great writing style. A little upset the ending was a cliffhanger but i loved that Kaz got Pekka Rollins after all that time. i really enjoyed this.
