The synopsis made this book look good. How misleading. The first half felt like a twilight rip off with a few more twists. The more I read the more I HATED Matthew and Diana. Really unlikable main characters!

Assim, eu nao achei que os personagens foram bem desenvolvidos, nao achei que a protagonista tenha de fato um protagonismo na historia, e o matthew tem um apelo de interessante da altura de uma gilete.
O livro se alonga muito pro pouco que realmente acontece.
A farofada de coisas que ela vai acrescentando: bruxas, e vampiros ,e demonios, ai do nada viagem no tempo, e ela tentar colocar uma explicação cientifica “plausível” pras linhagens, pro poder da diana eu achei que não ficou nada crível, soa muito forçado.
Aí vem cavaleiros templarios, e não sei o que… acho que precisava de um filtro ou de um freio ali. Porque o tanto de elementos adicionados de uma forma jogada me fez suspender minha descrença completamente no que tava acontecendo, acrescentado ao fato de que os personagens não tinham esse apelo todo de fazer eu me importar com eles.
Outra construção que me incomoda bastante é do proprio relacionamento entre Diana e Matthew que é tão instantânea que fica dificil você acreditar que esse seja um relacionamento que valha a pena toda essa ameaça de guerra de mudança de destinos, de rompimento de tradicoes que o livro tenta te fazer acreditar.
A coisa mais interessante que eu achei no livro todo nem acaba sendo abordada: que seria a circunstância da morte dos pais da Diana, queria que aquilo fosse mais explorado, era o fiapo de vontade que me segurou até o fim.
Acho que o unico ponto positivo é que é uma leitura bem facil e bem despretensiosa, dá pra descansar a mente legal e se divertir.
Talvez eu não siga com a saga!! 95% de certeza kkkkkk.

I hated how A Discovery of Witches minimized women into passive, “wife-like” roles while the men were always positioned as the leaders and protectors. The imbalance was nearly constant and infuriating — every time a woman’s power surfaced, she eventually step back so the men could take charge.

Audiobook listener. The pacing was a bit strange on this one. The fist half of the story skips ahead in time sometimes and after reading, it seems like we’re really trying to skip ahead to get to the main plot. This is not a complaint though because the author did a good job of providing backstories and setting the scene. The latter half of the book put me in the mind of the tv show Charmed, which I’ll likely go back and watch while I’m waiting to read the second book. I’m not sure if this is a tv show or not but it definitely reads like one and kept me wondering what would happen next. At the same time, I was okay with tuning the book out a bit and not too scared to miss some minute detail.
