This book was SOOOOOOOOOO good! A fun, short, fast-paced read that felt like soul food!

There didn't need to be a villain plot in this book. I was so over it every time it came into the situation. I was not really excited about the way it ended either. I loved it at first and by the end I was ready for it to be over.

I liked it. I think it touched on some very important topics and I really liked how they introduced me to my first plus-sized heroine. As someone who struggles daily with internalized fatphobia, books like this can change the world.
That said, I didn't really feel it. I liked the characters and the story was good, but I feel like it lacked some depth.
But my reading mood has been all over the place lately and maybe it's just me. I still adore the authors and I plan to keep on reading everything they write.

Graphic: Sexual content
Moderate: Blood, Fatphobia, and Sexual assault
Minor: Body shaming

Things I didn't like about this book:
-3rd person perspective
-The repetition of information being dropped
-Could guess the conflict from the 50-page mark
Things I did like in the 100 pages I read:
- Representation (Plus size main character, LGBTQ+, positive view of sexuality)

I just couldn't deal with him being incredibly stalkerish and inserting himself in her life and forcing himself on her. Not doing any actual physical harm, but it felt like he was pushing her into something - she was agreeing to it, but it still felt somewhat dubious as she was hurting from breaking up with her fiance and generally being disappointed with men and her love life and being insecure in that respect of her life; plus his ethereal "essence" sort of makes humans more pliable to his desires.

Fantastic!
I was going to say this is a new to me author but I think I’ve read their work before…
In any case, loved this story of Willow finding someone to actually appreciate and love her the way she deserves and also giving her the opportunity to believe that she is worthy of that.
Defo recommend

This was a bit of a flop for me, a lot of sex but I didn’t really feel any other chemistry outside of those scenes - the relationship development was kinda weak so by about 60% I was really over it and sped read it just to get it over with it.
