"I'll be alright. Just let me sit quietly for a moment." - Bilbo in The Unexpected Journey, but also me.

I came with the expectation of liking this book because, in theory, it has everything I like. Strong characters, monsters and creatures that have personalities, gods, mythology that isn't well-known, an atmosphere that I can feel, and prose that is simple and straight to the point. This is what fans of The Witcher need in their lives rn. What sent me is the delivery and the impact. 5 stars. 10 stars, sir.

The writing was fantastic, the characters were engaging, and while the beginning was slow, the ending was gripping. Epic stakes, fantastic Norse-inspired worldbuilding, and a fantastic reading experience meant that I really liked this book. Looking forward to reading The Hunger of the Gods sometime soon!
