Heretics of Dune

I cannot with a good conscience give this book more than 2 stars. It very rare for me to like it and dislike it so much at the same time, hence I give it: "it was ok" grade. There were aspects that were interesting about it and I have never learned about the Dune universe as much as with this volume but I found it lacking in the story part, character arc and overall flow of the action.

This volume reinforces me with the presumption that I will not continue the saga beyond the #6.

3.5 stars only because it took me too long to get into it.
My fault or the books fault? Who cares!

The scattering is such a cool concept. It was cool to see a book from a Bene Gesserit perspective but it was definitely brought down by that scene.

Very much can feel...very much this volume is focusing on the religious aspects of Arrakis society.

2.5 - wish half stars existed!
This should have been the series for me... it's unfortunately not that. However at least the first 3-4 books were somewhat enjoyable to me in various aspects but just not the way I hoped it would be. I even had to alter my ratings on the first 3 books to a 4 star rounded up because they are quite a bit better than the later ones, even with my pet peeves and dislikes present in those books.
From what I have loosely gathered about book 6, I'm sorta dreading it. It feels like a downward spiral from books 4 and onwards to me. So to me Dune will be the "Dune trilogy" rather than saga. Book 1 and 3 I wouldn't mind rereading for sure, book two is a maybe but the rest.... I'll forget they exist personally.
