Very sweet book, great role models for male friendship. Pacing of the climax was jolting with how great the rest of the book was.

This book was just fine for me. I really enjoyed the story, but there was a lot of extra stuff that was put into the story that make some parts feel inauthentic. I loved the characters though and the things that they were working towards.

Such a fun, adventurous story for young people with fiercely honest dialogue and a wonderful blueprint for standing up for oneself. A testament to friendship and feelings. I loved it.

This is a heartfelt story about sixth grade best friends who decide to plan the most epic hooky ever as a last hurrah before one of the boys moves across the country with his family at the end of the school year. Along the way they face bullies, read comics, and deal with toxic masculinity and racism. Hand to fans of Jordan Sonnenblick or John David Anderson.

A true buddy book, about Matt and Eric, who share a love of comic books and drum playing. Matt has some very hip parents, and the two best friends deal with constant harassment about whether or not they are gay. When Eric announces he and his mom are moving to NY, the two friends come up with one last escapade that goes wrong.

This was so sweet! A great story about boy friendship in middle school and how’s it can be fraught for so many reasons.

A fabulous book that subverts toxic masculinity at every angle as it explores a sweet friendship between two boys who love comics.
