Reading this from a child perspective certainly was something. The innocence is captivating

Wonderful book. Written from a boy's perspective. Very moving and innocent.

Okay, the story was good, the characters were a little bland. I really don't understand how Bruno, a 9 year old could be so clueless. Like it's seriously annoying how he doesn't pick up on anything.
That ending just threw me so bad. I kind of sat there for a while with the book closed.

Heartbreaking to see this story unfold through the eyes of a 9 year old. Powerful all the same.

my battered copy from 9-10 years ago survived me reading through it! <3

this book is a really good representation of the events of the holocaust and auschwitz without romanticising it like what heather morris does in the tattooist of auschwitz series

Mid. Tries to clutch at the heart’s strings, but only manages to do it marginally.
