Nevada. Sooooooo chick flick-y. Not bad, just wish I knew that's what I was getting into before I started it. Would have saved it for the beach.

I previously read [b:Be Frank With Me|25817528|Be Frank With Me|Julia Claiborne Johnson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1449425543l/25817528._SY75_.jpg|45584351] by this same author and loved it, but unfortunately this one was a bit of a letdown for me in comparison. This is for the most part more of a character driven novel instead of a plot driven novel, which can already be a negative for some people but I actually like these kinds of novels. The problem for me was that the two main characters of this particular story, Ward and Emily, actually felt like the weakest characters of the book. I wish we got to 'see' more of their personal backstories and their life after the ranch, instead of just being told. I also never felt the chemistry between them. I actually wish this book was about Nina instead and written from her point of view. And I could do without the quasi plot twist at the end completely.

Basically, go read [b:Be Frank With Me|25817528|Be Frank With Me|Julia Claiborne Johnson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1449425543l/25817528._SY75_.jpg|45584351] instead if you haven't already.

Thank you to Goodreads and Harper Collins Publishing for an advance copy of this book!

Every woman needs a 'Nina' in her life! This whimsical story of a dude ranch for divorcees in the 30s is a sweet comical depiction of how the elite separated back in the day. The characters, especially the two main women, are a refreshing and entertaining suave for the pandemic weary soul.
