This is a delightful book. The story follows Zoe, a woman who one day sees her own photo in a personal ad in the newspaper. This strange incident sets off a chain of events that turns her life upside down and threatens her safety and that of others.

The chapters are told from different perspectives, making the story both atmospheric and suspenseful. Mackintosh skillfully builds the tension and keeps the reader engaged. The way the perpetrator is presented is intriguing, adding to the suspense and depth of the story.

The only downside for me was that the plot felt exaggerated. Additionally, the final chapter felt unnecessary; it turned a very good book into a somewhat disappointing conclusion. Despite this, it remains a highly recommended read.

Really thrilling, I couldn’t put it down at first and then I had to put it down multiple times because it was too much for my heart. Well-written but the direction it took after the criminal reveal left me with a bad taste until that eye-rolling epilogue. So, I give it 3 stars instead of a solid 4 until after 80% of the book.

A nice, twisty, quick read. Palate cleanser, somewhat repetitive, some flat characters, but the story kept me going. And the last two minutes (on audio)? Wow.
