Bradbury's unique prose really leapt off the page. Though short, The Halloween Tree is a whirlwind adventure that oozes autumn chill combined with boyish wonder and thrill. One aspect I love in the Greentown series and here are the themes of strong friendship and trust between children, along with trustworthy adults who serves as guides and companions without dominating the stories. The boys' clear love for Pipkin and determination to save him was perfectly balanced with the educational, mysterious tone of their adventure -while Pipkin needed to be saved, the danger was reduced by a degree thanks to the guiding hand of Moundshroud.

Overall, a perfectly enjoyable, autumn-loving, Halloween adventure for people of all ages that highlights themes of shared humanity, death, and friendship.

Very INTERESTING!
Writing style made my brain hurt, but I needed to be challenged.
Would’ve been a great film during the time.

What a great book to get into the Halloween spirit. It reads like The Christmas Carol by Dickson. Even mentions the door knocker. It is a fun, nostalgic read. It flows well and the writing is poetic with descriptions of what we remember as young children during the Halloween season.

I liked this book but I think I was hoping for more. I also kind of blame the audio I listened to. Also admittedly I would listen to this before bed and would fall asleep as I was listening. I liked this and would definitely give it another read next year. I have a feeling that the more times you read it the more you appreciate it. Next time I will go for reading it to myself as opposed to the audio book.
