In my younger and more callow days, I think I read this and came away with the impression that it was boring.

Pish Posh! Nothing like Agatha Christie. Poirot is almost unbearably smug, but so clever you forgive him. Even from her first novel, you see the massive amount of talent.

mostly enjoyed this as an audiobook - the narrator was charles armstrong and i liked his accents and voice acting. enjoyed the twisty turny plot christie is so famous for, but didn't enjoy the use of slurs/casual racism.

The book put my emotion up and down many times while I was reading. Suspicion is continuously changed from one person to another person, and detective Poirot will lead you to a maze of information since it’s hard to follow up his deduction. The ending is such a great plot twist, not because you did not realize the fact, but because you refuse to admit the fact is real. One difficulty about reading this book is that it is hard for readers to solve the case by what are objectively given, as many clues are discovered by Poirot himself and they are only revealed at the end of the book. But overall, this book is a great book to read.

This is a reread, first time was done as an audiobook and second time read the hardback. The second time around was much more enjoyable. Ms. Christie does an exceptional job at creating an array of characters; and the plot? Amazing! There was just the right amount of details and twists and turns that had me guessing. I will definitely be checking out more of her novels.

Apart from the random ‘N’ bomb, it was a wonderful start to Christie’s mysteries.
