To quote the most common remark about Sunstone, "its not what you think it is!" True, this is definitely a rated-R comic, and Vol. 1 especially swings towards the explicit side (although never in a tasteless way); if BDSM or F/F completely squicks you out, this may not be for you. However, at its heart SS is a wonderful romance/love story with a wicked sense of humor, shown through Sejic's amazing comic art. If you have hesitations, visit userid shiniez at deviantart, he has most of the first four volumes up there for free, you can sample SS and make your own decision. I consider it one of best graphic novels to come out in the last 10-20 years, and well worth checking out.

Very charming and sweet romance comic that doubles up as a beginner's guide to BDSM culture. The sexual content is so grounded in the quotidian lives of the characters that it loses much of its power to provoke, which is actually to the book's overall purpose, as any leeriness would undercut the attempt to normalise BDSM as much as possible. Šejić's artwork is world-class, utilising the full power of digital colouring to make the comic feel lush. His page layouts are well designed and his ornate speech bubbles are a wonderful touch.
