Huh, this popped up in my recommended to you on Amazon and I was in a mood so ordered the first three volumes without knowing what to expect. I really liked it. The artwork is beautiful and the story has me intrigued. No idea why it popped up in my recommendations as I’m not a fan of BDSM at all but this works so maybe Amazon knows me better than I thought!
3 stars for now, but a very high 3 stars.

What a hilarious, adorable, and human love story! The characters are great and their relationship so honest.
The art in this is gorgeous but I felt like throughout this entire book all that happened was a build up to sex and then a lackluster sex scene then rinse and repeat. Another thing that’s super nitpicky but annoyed me was the sheer amount of lip biting which I hate so much that did in this. Like Lisa can’t seem to so 3 pages without biting her lip like damn girl that shit has to be swollen by now. Another more serious issue I had was the fact that Lisa and Ally didn’t really discuss what they were gonna do beforehand and that seems to me like it should be an obvious thing to do. Also it was mentioned that they had only talked for 2 months before meeting and that just doesn’t seem safe to me at all. Yea I know nothing bad actually happened but it still weirds me out. I don’t think I’ll be continuing with this series.
Ich liebe es. So funktioniert gesundes BDSM. Wundervolle Geschichte und ich liebe die Hauptcharaktere. Nicht nur total schöne und realistische Geschichte, sondern auch wundervolle Bilder, welche die Emotionen und die Amtosphäre wundervoll rüber bringen.

I read this originally when it was still a DeviantArt comic, and discovered it was now a legit comic when I decided to buy it as a gift.
Sunstone is an insanely good book - not necessarily as erotica (though it's pretty good for that too), but rather as a character-driven romance. Ultimately, this is the story of two women trying something they've always wanted to try, "as friends", but realising things aren't quite as simple.
If you're looking for a porn comic, this qualifies. If you're looking for interesting characters hashing out a romance, this qualifies much better. I highly recommend it for February gifting, if you follow my drift.
Incidentally, I should probably talk about the BDSM aspects of the book - as someone whose knowledge of BDSM and its community is largely academic, I thought that this book is a very interesting view of the lifestyle, making a lot of effort to normalise it, instead of portraying it as smutty deviancy. I look forward tot reading the rest of the series.
Finally, the last quarter of the book is actually behind the scenes art and notes by the artist, which are actually an enjoyable read in and of itself. It's fun to learn where Sejic got the nick shiniez, and of how Sunstone evolved from an exercise to deal with writer's block into a full-fledged erotic comic.
(Note: I actually read the book in about two or three sittings; but these sittings were spread across a large period of time)
