I am still smiling to myself DAYS after reading this. I absolutely loved this graphic novel and I’ve instantly bought the other volumes in the series.
Before we get started – Sunstone is a F/F romance that features a light BDSM (but a lot of it) and nudity. So if you can’t appreciate naked humans, women’s bodies in this case, BDSM, or sexual exploration, maybe give this a miss. But if your open minded or curious, this could be the graphic novel for you!
Sunstone has BEAUTIFUL art, I really have to emphasise that, OMG. It’s a beautiful graphic novel to look at. Top that off with some amazing characters who are handled as real humans, with realistic emotions and behaviours and you’ve got the ingredients for a funny and heart-warming romance that explores sexual desire,
I found Sunstone to be a perfect example of sex, sexuality and kinks being explored with grace and maturity. The sex serves a purpose, it’s not just there for cheap thrills, it’s the same situation for the nudity. Nothing is ‘for the sake of it’.
I love how this helps normalise sexual exploration. I’m a really sex-positive person and wish more people would discuss or explore this sort of thing. Sex is a normal part of life and shouldn’t be as taboo as it is.
Sunstone is an absolute masterpiece. I can’t find a single fault in it. Beautiful artwork, beautiful characters and a beautiful message.

4.5 stars!!!
This volume was so good! I'm in love!
I hoped it'll be sexy and pretty and the volume is all that, but also it is sweet and funny and cute and relatable. I loved Lindsay and Ally developing relationship, they meet online, become friends based on common tastes in things and BDSM in particularly, they meet irl after chatting for a couple of months and things go so well! I like both of the leading women and I'm fond of Ally's friend Alan.
It could've been a full five star reaad if the art appealed to me more. I liked the art, big spreads and panels were amazing, but in some cases it felt unfinished.
All in all, I am definitely going to continue on with the series.

A bit too dialogue heavy for my weak little eyes, but this is so well written and the art is stunning. I'm really happy with this one!
A longer review of this is over on my blog!

Nice! Quite hot, likable characters. My only gripe ~ if you're gonna wear a collar, don't hide it! It was too soon (IMO) for her to have one anyways, outside of just play time. But since she did, wear it, don't try to hid it! :/
Ok, I may not be impartial on this one as I just FELL IN LOVE with this comic.
My sis recommended it to me, which was pretty weird and embarassing at first but, eh, I was litteraly talking about how-I-though-I-may-be-into-BDSM so it wasn't that weird.
First of all, I love the characters. I identify so much with Lisa as I'm more a sub, and a writer, and because the whole crap-I'm-falling-in-love-with-my-internet-bff-now-that-I've-met-her is basically me when I realised my feelings for my current girlfriend.
I'm more a writer, a reader of frickin books, you know. I crave words, and poetry, and beauty. And this comic give me that. Some quotes are amazing, brillant, on my wall and forever in my head.
This is a brillant introduction to BDSM. I mostly learnt to know it thanks to Sunstone.
The themes are perfect, that's it. And the drawings are great, well enough for me. I'm not too hard on that as I don't read that much of comic, plus I'm a writer, I don't draw.
I sell it to one of my friend as "a love story between two girls (with one red-haired) who are into BDSM" but it's much more than that for me. Yeah, it's a beautiful romance, but in my eyes it's also my discovery of myself, about my queerness and my kinks.

Sweet, surprisingly realistic, and corny in all the best ways. Oh, and it's sexy too--but I think what really got me was the depiction of kinksters as ordinary people navigating love and sexuality with a few bells and whistles, but ultimately falling into the same traps and human errors. I related to it in a way that I just can't with vanilla romance and 50-Shades-esque media.
Super steamy! Great artwork, and I love the characters; they are so cute with one another and with their inner thoughts. At first, I was a bit hesitant with how much on-page text there is for a comic collection, but it reads a lot like a romance novel. Plus, all the text makes sense in the context of Lisa being a writer and retelling her love story with Ally.
