This one wasn't a personal favorite, mainly because I had a really hard time with Olivia as a character--she is purposefully selfish, and she does eventually realize the impact of her actions, but it is almost at the end. I just didn't know why her friends would have stuck around for so long. There is a lot going on plot-wise, with both Toni and Olivia having their own goals for the festival weekend. I definitely think that people looking for sapphic YA with flawed main characters will enjoy this, it just wasn't a personal fave.

Leah Johnson has never written anything I haven’t liked. She is such a genius with words!! I listened to the audiobook of this at work, which I do not recommend doing because it made me cry. There is a lot of unpacking each character does throughout the novel, which I really appreciated but it was difficult to read sometimes. On top of that, this book very heavily talks about mass shootings, so if that is something you find triggering, please know that before going into this!! I think all of the conversations were done so goddamn well. This is one of those books that I can absolutely see myself re-reading every summer!!

I loved You Should See Me in a Crown but insta-love storylines are really not for me! I feel like it would have been stronger if Olivia and Toni remained broken up and Olivia realized she needs to learn to take romantic relationships more slowly and not take her friends for granted .
