This beautifully written memoir is brave and eye-opening.

I'd like certain influential transphobes--such as J. K. Voldemort, Elon Musk, and certain UK prime ministers, to be strapped in chairs with gags over their mouths in a room with the audio version of this book playing loudly enough that it would be impossible for them to ignore it. Maybe then they'd finally see trans people as human.

solid read, follows the standard memoir beat sheet. yes some of the sections feel a bit like a dictionary, but i'm sure for those who are not already informed on some aspects touched on, such as me for most of the hawai'i parts requiring nuance or experience, found it helpful despite the smooth segway's. glad i read it since i love her work

I didn’t know much about Mock’s story before listening to this audiobook, and it was incredibly moving to hear it in her own voice. While she did an incredible job tying in statistics and the larger context of her life, she also took great care to emphasize that this is her story, which is just one of many lived by marginalized folks of intersecting identities.

I  vaguely knew who Janet Mock was but wasn’t aware of her origin and her life story. A challenging read (please check trigger warning) but sheds so much light on the one of just many trans experience.

I loved this book! Very well written! Only wish that we had seen more of her adult life but I understand how that might fall outside of the scope of the narrative.
