I highly recommend this book to anyone that has loved hard and searched for meaning after losing someone dear to you. If you have recently lost someone to cancer (or another illness), you may want to consider waiting a bit before reading. I read this 6 months after losing my grandfather to cancer, and while I am still grieving, it was not as heavy to read now.

Initially, I anticipated a romantic tale chronicling Tembi Locke's experiences with her husband. I expected her to share poignant stories of nursing and supporting him during his battle with cancer, as is often the case in memoirs. However, I discovered that this book leaned more towards a travelogue. Locke predominantly recounts her adventures in Sicily, painting a vivid picture of its landscapes and cultural heritage.
To be honest, I felt kinda disappointed since I had different expectations. However, the writing was simply phenomenal. It was beautifully crafted and skillfully narrated. Locke's narration effortlessly transports readers to the captivating beauty of Sicily. Rather than evoking sadness like many memoirs do, this book offers a sense of relaxation and serenity, making it a delightful and enjoyable read.
Despite not aligning with my initial expectations, I couldn't help but appreciate the masterful writing and it's captivating narration. It adeptly captures the essence of Sicily, allowing readers to experience its allure and appreciate its loveliness.
