Few cartoonists portray relationships of all kinds--between friends, children and parents, and among those falling in love--better than Faith Erin Hicks, and Hockey Girl Loves Drama Boy is no exception. I suggested this to a high-school senior, a committed non-reader, and she blew through it in one sitting, that's how engaging it is!

I am on a role with good reads! I loved this, and didn't realize until I finished that she cowrote Pumpkinheads with Rainbow Rowell, and should've recognized the art style! I loved both Alix and Ezra, and could have definitely read more of their story (though the ending does resolve well, it made me want more). It treated their main issues well, though I do think there could have been a bit more resolution (
I wanted Alix to be confronted about what she said to Olive, though it seemed like something Alix wouldn't have said, and I also wanted to know what happens with Alix joining the new team, and how the musical goes!
). I think this would make a fantastic movie!

Really cute graphic novel about, well, a hockey girl who likes a drama boy at her high school.

I liked the story and the art both. Watching Alix get her first crush was so cute, and I liked how she finally found proper friends and community trough the theater people, and managed to stand up to her bully. Ezra was great as well, with his level head and likeable nature.

A note: I saw this in a rec for pan rep, but while Ezra likes boys and girls he's adament about not labelling himself and prefers to say he just "likes people"

I thought the book was okay! I love graphic novels and i like to give all of them a chance and also read to the end. So of course i did it for this one! I only given a 3 Star because it’s like a basic love story of 2 people starting to speak become friends then fall in love. It’s also about hockey and drama and i’m not a big fan of them
