I have loved Faith Erin Hicks' work since I read "Friends with Boys" as a webcomic many years ago. I picked this up while traveling because it looked RIGHT UP my alley.
It is very much YA with high-school drama and some parent/child struggles. It's not usually what I read but I still loved it a lot. The characters were very enjoyable, the conflicts were realistic and characters grew and developed from them, the romance was very sweet. My favorite part was, of course, the tomboy girl (who is taller and bigger!) paired up with the sensitive, artistic (bi) guy. Like, that is the blueprint for success if you ask me.
I have more FEH books in my wishlist and hope to read more from her :)
