Aww I love the representation. As a tall big girl I felt seen and it’s sweet to think a drama boy would dig a big bad hockey girl. YA but I didn’t mind how PG it all was. I was just happy to be in their world for a little while

Alix loves hockey, but she doesn't love her teammate Lindsay's constant negative comments and bullying. One day, her temper gets the better of her and threatens her status on the team and her future in hockey. Meanwhile, she overhears a classmate, Ezra, endure similar abuse from a classmate with a calmness and confidence she aspires to, so she asks him for lessons on how to keep her cool. As the two get closer, we also get some other interesting secondary plots, from Alix's relationship to her mother to Ezra's obliviousness to a misstep in one of his closest friendships. The real marvel here is Hick's artwork, particularly her mastery of body language and facial expressions, that reveal so much about each of these characters and their relationship with each other.

This was a very sappy read and some of the dialogue was very cringey but generally it was a sweet little story. That being said I feel like there were a couple of plot points that were kind of introduced and dropped without much resolution.
