I don’t know what I expected with this book. It felt very 2010’s to me lol and very YA. May pick up the next ones just because I love Hil.

3.5 stars. I seen the third book for this trilogy on the bargain shelf of my favorite book store. Hilary Duff is what caught my eye. Hilary Duff as in Lizzie McGuire?? Hilary Duff as in "someone's watching over me..."? Hilary Duff wrote a book? I quickly looked it up online to find it being the third book in a trilogy and so of course I had to buy the first two. I wanted to really know, Hilary Duff can write? Despite the negative reviews I believe whole heartedly that she can in fact write. A lot of people said... this story's been around like Evermore. I agree that it has one same characteristic as evermore (I've only read the first three) but that only drew me in more. I couldn't put this book down and the only reason this isn't 4 stars is because I found the book to be defying me at first glance, thinking it's a longer novel than it is because of how big the words are on the pages. However, that aspect only made me read it faster... I am so happy with the ending and excited to read "devoted" to see the story continue. I do believe that Hilary Duff has many talents and writing is certainly one of them. Good job!

Why Hilary?! Why?! You filled my childhood with joy and now you do this?
When I saw that Hilary Duff had written a book I picked it up without even looking a the premise. What can I say? I'll pretty much mindlessly buy anything my childhood idol produces. I didn't think it would be legendary but not this.

The book starts out in a club scene much like another one of my favorite books.

But instead of there being shadowhunters in this club there was disappointment.

I read the next hundred pages, willing, wishing for it to get better. Then I realized something. I had read this before. This plot is almost exactly like another book I'd read and didn't like. So I quickly jumped on goodreads to see if it got better. According to most other users it didn't. So I decided to quit while I was behind.

Sorry Hilary Duff, I can't support you when you're like this. I guess we will always have Lizzie.
