I found this book one-note and the writing style isn't for me. I think Samantha Irby and I would be friends, though.

I bought this in that late March 2020/Covid fog and I wish I remembered who recommended it to me bc I would love to say thank you. This book of essays had me laughing out loud and was so fricken relatable, please just read it. Most of the essays are about being 40 and a woman and now Samantha Irby is my spirit animal.

4.5 stars because like always, the people of television / pop culture go over my head. I really enjoyed her voice and writing, even moreso than Lindy West. Very candid and funny and relatable. I especially appreciated her bit on being a stepparent.

I related to this book a lot because I, too, run from children the way most people run from a hot stove
just so funny. I loved so many parts and was laughing out loud constantly. very fun.

Really not my kind of comedy and not a fan of the format, but Irby comes across as quite charming throughout.
