This one was not great. I'm interested enough to have finished the book and will give the next one in the series a chance before I DNF the series as a whole, but I'm skeptical at this point. I wasn't able to get connected to either main character. There just wasn't enough depth in their characters or their relationship. It seemed choppy and unbelievable. The plot was interesting but I think needed a bit more to make it something I could really sink my teeth into. Let's see what the next one brings. Sometimes the first in a series is slow to get started, so I'm hoping that is the case with this one.
Cassie and Roman...not sure what else to say! They are entwined with each other from the start and have amazing chemistry! The whole story definitely keeps you on your toes!

Good start to a series. Some parts dragged a bit and the leads characters weren’t my favorite, but it kept me hooked till the end.

This book pulled me in from the start.
It starts of with a bang of an attention getter.
And ends with another bang.
Roman is what’s known as an oligarch.
He’s trying to broker the deal of his lifetime.
He’s powerful, influential and deadly.
But Roman does have morals he lives by.
Cassie is a hardworking young lady.
Living paycheck to paycheck.
She is working as a waitress/bartender at Roman’s very important party.
The poor girl finds herself at the wrong place, at the wrong time kind of situation.
This is where the little bit of morals that Roman has comes in handy.
He comes to her rescue and vows no harm will come to her.
From here both of their lives take an unexpected turn that neither counted on.
The story is fast paced and exciting.
It’s filled with bad guys with guns, danger at every turn and suspense aplenty.
It’s also sexy and steamy.
All these elements all play off each other for an edge of your seat read.
That’s exciting and gripping.
I’m definitely looking forward to more after that stunning epilogue!

I really enjoyed this book, it had a good mix of spice and intrigue. Roman is an oligarch that is cruel but fair who wants to protect Cassie, who was on the wrong place at the wrong time.
This has been my favorite book from B.B. so far. I liked the pacing and the fact that we get multiples POV’s. This book seems to be the start of a series so it has a HEA for the couple and you have a cliffhanger possibly relating to the next couple.

I absolutely love this book. I believe it’s the first time I’ve read this author and this book was amazing! Definitely recommend reading it ASAP.

Roman is our MMC who is a mysterious mafia like boss. Deadly vibes all around. It’s his celebration that Cassie is working and he finds her interesting, intriguing, beautiful, etc. All the wonderful adjectives.
By witnessing this event, Cassie and Roman’s lives are intertwined.
The steamy scenes are great with a Dominant touch to it. The story itself has many twists and turns to it. I don’t want to give away too much because this needs to be a must read. I joined the newsletter to get a glimpse into a bonus chapter and my oh my has their future gotten complicated.

When Cassie inadvertently witnesses a murder that could set off a mob war, she’s saved by the inscrutable Roman, a man as formidable as he is handsome. As their worlds become more and more intertwined, and Cassie’s past and Roman’s secrets come to light, they find that their seemingly combustible chemistry continues to build. Is their connection strong enough to last, or will Roman’s quest for revenge blast them apart before they’ve even truly begun?
This book delivers all of the hallmarks of a mafia romance with its fair share of violence, mayhem, and white-hot steamy scenes. There’s forced proximity, some “light” kidnapping, and a hero who steps outside the law to get what he wants. The dynamic between Cassie and Roman is definitely insta-lust meets enemies-to-lovers, and it is a delight to read. There are also a few chapters sprinkled throughout from secondary characters, Erick and Winter, which were a welcome addition to the narrative and set up the next book in the series quite nicely.
Make sure you check your triggers, as this is definitely a dark romance, and buckle up for a wickedly wild ride. Note: this is the beginning of an interconnected standalone series, and so it leaves you with a bit of a cliffhanger, which I wasn’t expecting. But it’s got me itching for the next book in the series, which is always a good thing.

meeeh this book didn‘t catch me. i didn‘t like the main characters and the plot was boring. the idea was great though and I really liked other books from the author.
This was honestly one of the best mafia-ish book I’ve read in a while. My first book by this author as well and I’ll read more for sure! I absolutely loved the writing style, I really enjoyed the story and the characters. I do wish it had been a bit longer and less rushed toward the end, but overall I highly recommend it.

Roman breezes in like a white knight, and then he goes and does it again! I wouldn’t mind having a man like Roman Lenkov as a white knight. Especially with Cassie’s luck! (Or lack of.) Poor thing is trying to silently live her life, hide in plain sight. Not that she can hide from Roman and his men. He won’t let her hide, especially not from him. That big bad monster sure made me giggle. He had the marriage license and prenup ready to go. I mean, the man was absolutely devoted to protecting Cassie! Made sure to pull out all the stops! Roman is naturally attentive, but it’s a whole different thing with Cassie. She toes the line between naive and ignorance is bliss. And in their life, that’s a dangerous place to be! The moment I knew I loved Roman, really wasn’t the moment for it. There was death and such involved. Then again…he’s Roman Lenkov, going to war for Cassie…when wasn’t it involved?!
