Reread 2021: I reread it because I couldn't remember what happened. It's about Haven who survived domestic abuse from her first husband and how that destroyed her self-esteem and completely affected her interaction with people. I'm glad that she did not let her experience completely destroy her. I'm also not satisfied with what happened to Nick and Vanessa - I thought they deserved worse.
I took off one star from my initial rating because although I enjoyed the story, it's not something that I will strongly remember and reread a lot in the future.

"I no longer believed in the idea of soul mates, or love at first sight. But I was beginning to believe that a very few times in your life, if you were lucky, you might meet someone who was exactly right for you. Not because he was perfect, or because you were, but because your combined flaws were arranged in a way that allowed two separate beings to hinge together."

******
Now i understand why it has such a high rating.

I was a little surprised at how much time was spent on a painful, abusive relationship - this book should definitely come with some trigger warnings. I expected more romance and a much less heavy story. Despite that I enjoyed the book. There is some suspension of disbelief required that a person so severely abused would recover so swiftly, but the romance aspects were good.

Audio- great romantic audio with a fantastic narrator. We follow Hardy as he tries to find his place after his rough brake-out from his homelike. He has built a road paved with sharp edged glass. He did what he had to to get out of the hole he was in but now he wants something more. Unfortunately, what he wants might be the stupidest choice he ever made.
I enjoyed the romantic nature of this book and how the author redeemed a really rotten character. I did not think it possible.

Can I get my $13 back AND the hours it took to read this??

What's annoying is that this had the potential to be great. Why didn't they show Haven and him getting to know each other and talking more? Like, where was the romance? It wasn't there, only lust, so the ending just didn't make sense to me at all and when she told him I love you.. it seemed so fast. I mean even her getting over the trauma of what happened to her...? It was all just rushed and not enough time spent on these things it in my opinion.

The men all kinda sucked. I don't see what the appeal about Hardy is at all?? I honestly didn't really feel anything for any of the characters. It just fell so short on everything and was very disappointing.

Absolute rubbish. Don't waste your time on it.
