☠️Lilith has always been familiar with death. She is surrounded by it, and destined to lead a short life herself. 🔬🧪Desperate to cure a plague in her town before she runs out of time, she seeks the aid of a vampire. It was rumored that Lord Vale had lived outside of Adcova for nearly 200 years, but no one knew for sure of course. Folks steered clear of his neck of the woods if they knew what was good for them. But 🐭Lilith approaches 🦁 Vale, offering him 6 🌹 roses in exchange for several vials of his 🩸 blood - to be exchanged over 6 months.

“I promise you,” I said, “its beauty is by far the least interesting thing about it.”

😍 Since I already read The Ashes of the Star Cursed King, I knew how this novella would end, but I loved learning more about Lilith and Vale’s love story. I can’t wait for Broadbent to release more books in this series 🤩

A wonderful short addition to the Crowns of Nyaxia series! I loved getting to read Lilliths story, she’s a brilliantly written character with lots of charm, especially considering the small amount of time/pages to develop her story. I personally recommend reading this novella after Ashes and the Star-Cursed King, as some mild spoilers occur in this book.

My heart was racing this whole book. I was so afraid for the characters. What a great book - it was fast-paced, I was never bored, and the characters felt so alive. The stakes were high and time was precious. You could feel the urgency of the main character. In other words, I LOVED IT.

What a delightful short story. It felt so well done and fully fleshed out the ti forgot it was a novella and got sad it was already over. In that short time, you really get a good feel for Vale and Lilith, and I'm excited to see how they tie into Book 2 because they are just wonderful. The only bummer is we don't get anymore than those two, and when there's another character it's really brief. I suppose it IS a novella though. But it was still very good and a wonderful concept.

The paving was a little slow at times, but I appreciated getting a story set in the same universe as Serpent and the Wings of Night but in the human lands. To me this book was really adding to the world building of the franchise.

I loved seeing the relationship develop between Lilith and Vale. I hope to see more of them in the next book, I’m not ready so say goodbye to them. 😭

As an autistic person I saw a lot of myself in Lilith, and I appreciated that. I’ve never read a character that embodied those traits about myself.

Fast paced, but I expect that of a novella. My only regret in reading this was that I did not read it before The Ashes and the Starcrossed king.  I wish it had been longer read, honestly. Lilith's character is great
