this book is AMAZING!!!!! and i cannot wait for the Shadowhunters tv show and maybe i'll read City of Ashes after im done reading The Maze Runner :--)
I really enjoyed this book. I think it is a good beginning to the series. So without spoiling anything I will say that there are two things that I would say are supposed to be surprises but one of them I saw coming kind of early on. The other I did NOT see coming until it started to unravel and I was reading it going, “No? Really? Oh wow.”
I don’t think I have really read anything like a Shadowhunter before. It is an interesting concept. There were a couple of times that I started to feel like it was slow but then it would pick back up with some kind of action.
I like Clary, Jace and Simon. Simon is that best friend character that in this story wasn’t necessarily a primary character but you still hope things work out for him. Clary is the character that you can relate to the first time you read the book because you are in the same place as her in learning about everything. Jace is the guy that is sarcastic and can be annoying but you can’t help but like him. I feel like I didn’t get a lot from Alec and Isabelle. I guess with the connection they have with Jace and with what there parents had done in the past I was expecting more. Although with this book it was about Clary finding out about this new world and trying to find her mother, along with the two surprises we find out in the end.
I do look forward to the other books. The way that this one ended set it up well for another one without it being too cliffhanging. You know of some characters that still have some things that you know aren’t done yet and will come up again. At least I hope so. lol
