I haven’t finished a book in months and read this in less than 24 hours. It was delightful fluff with dialogue worthy of Cary Grant/Katherine Hepburn screwball comedy.

A fun and funny light read that ends a little too abruptly but still made for a charming and absorbing few hours when I really needed to read something happy.

3.5 stars. An amusing, easy read. Some of the dialogue didn’t ring true to me but good for a beach read.

I love Elinor Lipman! I forgot, and only picked this up because the protagonist/narrator is a gay man. But the wit! Dry, wry, and droll. So few have such a light and affectionate touch. I also enjoy feeling like a well-heeled Manhattanite, and Lipman makes you feel included in that world: the top of the heap at the center of the world.

A bit flat but amusingly enjoyable.

A lovely, light read. The best way to describe it would be a well-written chick lit book...but the lead character is a gay man, not a gal.
Not a hefty plot or big life lessons, just an enjoyable summertime read.

A very enjoyable book...I thought it was going to add up to more than it eventually did (I felt the story just kind of petered out). But overall a very charming and engaging read.

I'm a sucker for stories of new beginnings.
