Nick Walker's Neuroqueer Heresies examines and pushes beyond the neurodiversity paradigm. This collection begins with the origins and impact of our modern concept of neurodiversity, takes a deep dives specifically into autism, and ends with mind-opening explorations of what it means to neuroqueer. While the language throughout the book can be dense and "academic", this is cearly in the service of specificity and precision, and I appreciated the care and thought put into every word.
