OK, so what's going on with this book?
I confess I may have skim-read those 230 pages. But it wasn't my super thing. The writing and the way the story was told didn't really get me it. I couldn't connect with the narrator. Truth be told, it was like a science-read. Literature writings is supposed to connect narrators, but the whole thing was like reading a newspaper article of nearly 230 pages. Awesome!
On the other hand, the idea, the concept and the story is brilliat. That's why I'm giving 3 stars to this book, though under normal circumstances it wouldn't have reached it. I'm spoiler-y in this review, which is kind of unusual, but a random guy calling you and asking you to give him a reason not to kill himself and escape this hell of a world. As a person who's though about suicide a lot, I kind of understood why Andy would do that. If he really did that for that... BUt it wasn't. The ending just broke all the rocks on earth, just collided some worlds. I was like.... WHATTTTT???? It took me some time to process it. I smelled something weird ever since Andy started asking some questions but I never thought of that ending.
I am really supportive of such moments. They turn you upside down in seconds.
So, even though I am not highly recommending it, nor liking it excessively, I am telling you that if your really want UNEXPECTEDNESS ON A TRAY, you've got to read this. It's way too mind-blowing and mind-fucking your mind. The writing didn't work on me, but whatever!!!
I hope I can take a break from reading in English after this book and Sea of Tranquility, because I feel I understand English no more after reading so much in this language that's not my first one. Anyway, this is the end of the review.

This book sounded amazing. I have some hard issues when picking a book up because I don't want to spend money on something I am going to hate. The blurb for this book drew me in and I knew I had to buy it.
The entire book is within a one night period. It just follows the phone call and what happens with everyone involved. The ending was somewhat "meh" and I expected more from it. Overall it was a book that I would recommend with caution.

Where do i begin....
In terms of writing, it was okay. Easy to follow through and was at a comfortable pace.
The reason for the one star was that the protagonist, Victoria was fucking annoying. I hated her along with other characters in the book.
*MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD. STOP NOW IF YOU HAVENT READ THE BOOK*
Firstly, i dont even feel sympathetic for Kevin and Victoria's brother who was bullied at school. I feel nothing. the characters were dull and flat. there was no character development AT ALL. there was also not much elaboration about the other bullies Victoria was involved with. Just flimsy bits of Facebook conversation of them cyber-bullying Kevin. The whole melodrama with Andrew on the phone was just... *rolls eyes*
The worst part was that when it comes to the end, Victoria still thinks she's fucking innocent. like no bitch. yes i get that she didnt strangle Kevin or stab him with a knife but SHOW SOME FUCKING REMORSE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. Your friend killed himself for fuck's sake and you stood by and watch while your "friends" bullied him. Not to mention the fact that she contributed to it as well, adding fuel to flames. Jeez.

3.5 stars
Leveen wrote some pretty serious issues in this book. Makes me think twice about posting stuff on social media too.
Random was a good read but I feel like it's lacking in the emotion department a little bit. I like how he didn't make Tori this stereotypical mean girl while being in a mean girls group.
Despite the heavy issues, it isn't deep or makes you emotionally unstable like All the Bright Places and The Fault in Our Stars. So overall, a good read.

This book was completely different then what I expected. And while it was not perfect, it was real and honest and completely ... Life in a way.
The book was how most bullying happens right now. In the social media sides, clearly in the open and that everyone could step in and say something, anything to stop it... But nobody actually does.
And when it is to late, everonye just says that I couldn't have been them that did it. It was just a joke, it wasn't that bad, the person being bullied could have said something, done something....
This book is just very real and packs a hell of a punch at being brutally honest about how little is actually being done against bullying. And how little can be done about it legally.
If you have not yet read this book. DO IT. READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is one of the best bullying books I have read that domestic get hung up on any other story other then bullying and the consequences it can have.
And while non if the characters where anything outstanding or noticeable of apeven something that I enjoyed reading the point of view from, they did the job rather perfectly.
So please, read this book, and remember that no matter what or who you are, no matter if you know someone well or not... If you see someone being bullying, at least try? trying is better then standing by and doing nothing! If this book does not give any other message to the reader, it cellar gives that one.

I kinda hate Tori, so it's how bully's mind works.
I just want to know what will happen to Tori next...

Very quick read. I think what also made me read it quickly was that I was intrigued by the synopsis and really wanted to find out if she could save this stranger. Really did not like the main character, I think she was really bitchy even after everything that "happened" and everything that's been happening to her I didn't like her, at all. And even at the end of the story, I still felt she didn't get the whole point. She was annoying and all she cared about was saving herself. Other than not liking her, I think the plot was excellent.
idk how i felt about this book. i enjoyed reading it ig but it also annoyed me, or the main character did. she never fully took accountability for her actions or rather inactions. she was incredibly naive and more concerned with popularity and herself after the consequences. it was all just quite strange. and i get what the brother did sure, but is she really so dense that you can’t just say those things to her. idk talk???? you can’t be real and be like ya done messed up? you had to resort to deceit? it was just odd, not in a bad way, per say. just odd.
