Dad picked this up from a small bookshop in Halifax. It's a really lovely book, written in the way Japanese authors specialise; poetic, slow-paced prose. Very reflective and questioning of human character.

Various issues surrounding grief and mental health are explored through the lens of a cafe in which you can travel through time. Four short stories, all cleverly linked to feel genuinely like part of one continuous world, allow for an easy read while the reader thinks of their answer to the question: "If you could go back, who would you want to meet?"

I had pretty similar feelings towards this book as I did to the first. It felt like a true continuation with familiar faces, but also a few new ones that brought in new stories.

My favorite thing about this book was the backstory we got for Kazu and her mother. I hadn't expected to get a glimpse into their lives, and I really appreciated how it all wrapped up!

I don't know if this really needed a sequel. It didn't resonate with me the same as the first book. I don't know if it was the novelty of the first book but I felt like I cared for the characters a lot more in that than I did this time round. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it, I had a nice time reading it, it was just a bit disappointing.
