I enjoyed everything except the end. The part where all the boys have sex with Bev I really did NOT like and did NOT need to read. Nor did I enjoy the part where Patrick jerks Henry off. These sexual acts involving 11 and 12 year olds were unnecessary. The suspense was good, as was the world building.

IT is a story about a group of friends returning to their hometown 27 years after they fought a monster terrorising the towns kids to finish it once and for all.

Despite being over 1000 pages IT kept me gripped throughout and I never found myself feeling like the book was dragging. I felt connected to all the characters and found myself really feeling for them in the situations they found themselves in. I think the way Stephen King switches back and forth form the adults to kids perspectives is done really well and definitely helps the story to stay engaging despite the length.

The only thing that brings this book down from being a 5 star for me is
the scene in the sewers where all the boys have sex with Bev, I just think it was so weird and did not need to be included
.

Overall I think this book is mainly about our childhood and the magic we lose within ourselves as we grow up and how we have no control over the universe and what it has in store for us. If your into spooky stories with in depth characters who you really feel for this book is for you.

King uses his horror sci-fi genre to write a beautiful coming of age story about a group of kids who learn to overcome real life monsters, and the monsters in their minds, through friendship and love. The world can be good - even when you're facing an evil monster in the sewers.

"He thinks that it is good to be a child, but it is also good to be a grown up and able to consider the mystery of childhood... its beliefs and desires." "Childhood has its own sweet secrets and confirms mortality, and that mortality defines all courage and love. To think that what was looked forward, must also look back. That each life makes its own imitation of immortality, a wheel." - It by Stephen King
