<strong>quaint and lovely</strong>
Really enjoyed this one. There were parts I wanted to scream at, especially when women’s beauty were enumerated out critiqued - that’s all part of the patriarchy she’s truly to fight throughout the book, after all. (If you are uncertain what I mean, Naomi Wolf’s book The Beauty Myth explains it all.)
Kind of wish the epilogue was either taken out or had a different ending though. Felt like the author ran out of story and that was why we jumped forward so those decades and why it ended the way it did. Also found myself annoyed that the La Miss mystery was never solved!

Fun, gossipy stories layered with commentary on gender and class. Both enjoyable and thought provoking.

So Good! This book was very engaging from the beginning to the end. Each character brought such depth and meaning to to the storyline. It really interesting to read. The romance, betrayals, and more were very realistic which I appreciated. It was a pleasure to read this book!
