When I first read There’s no Such Thing as an Easy Job by Kikuko Tsumura, a lot of reviews said it has this book’s vibe, or worst, imitating it. I love the former, I found the the MC to be relatable; stressed over a work you used to be passionate about that you went for menial jobs. Then I put this book under my TBR thinking it will give me the same inspiration. It didn’t. 

It has the same premise; a young woman was depressed, and just wanted to take a break, except the MC in this book hibernated. How? By consuming sleeping pills. I would love to hibernate as well when things get tough but her efforts were tiring to read. You know the feeling when you sleep too much and feel even more restless? That feeling. That’s what I got from this book.

Although the ending felt like an emotional cop-out… I am constantly remembering this piece of writing, and for better or for worse, that means it stands out, and you know I respect that
