Rory Miller!!! This sweet, sweet boy with so much trauma deserves all the love. He has been in love with Hazel Hartley since high school and the black cat finally figures out she feels the same way!! I’ve been waiting for their story since the short story from the Hockey Anthology! I was gripped from the beginning

I feel bad rating it so low because I knew what I was getting into when I started this book.  It's my first book in the hockey romance genre, so maybe it's just not for me.  The sex scenes were mostly vanilla, with random unsexy "kinks" thrown in unnaturally.  Despite being written by a woman, they felt like they were written for the male gaze, so to speak.
I mean, what woman actually wants her asshole finger banged randomly?   (I realize some definitely do, and that's totally cool for them.)
I did like the female protagonist, she was very likeable!

It was very bland, which was to be expected since it's following the fake dating trope. But it would have been nice if it had some flavor.

Im giving this one 3.5 stars. It was cute and fun. I think the audio is what did me in on this one. The female voice was sooo dramatic and she sounded like she was going to cry 90% of the time, even the spicy scenes which were way too overly breathy for me. The male narrator was good, a few times there were random pauses in sentences.

I honestly liked the book but did not like Hazel as a main character. She was just so dramatic from the beginning. Way too much for me. I wish I had eyeball read the kindle version of this book and I think I would have enjoyed it a bit more.

The writing was a bit long winded for my taste and a lot of repetition in phrases and feelings. This probably could have been 50-100 pages shorter.

I did like Rorys character and watching his growth through the book and him just so head over heels for Hazel from page 1

Overall its a cute and easy read. I will def read the next book which I suspect is about Hayden and Darcy!!!

I thought their personal problems that they have to overcome were pretty ridiculous.
A thin, conventionally pretty girl is crying bc her mom is insecure? 😴
I think this whole book would’ve sat a little better if Hazel was somehow deemed unattractive by society. I kept thinking she should’ve at least been a little chubby if nothing else.

Love Rory!! I wish there had been a little more banter and time before they started fake dating but still very enjoyable
