I loved the dual POV, especially Rory’s! I appreciated that there was no 3rd act break up, but I felt it dragged at times. It did not need to be 420 pages.

Rory Miller!!! This sweet, sweet boy with so much trauma deserves all the love. He has been in love with Hazel Hartley since high school and the black cat finally figures out she feels the same way!! I’ve been waiting for their story since the short story from the Hockey Anthology! I was gripped from the beginning

I feel bad rating it so low because I knew what I was getting into when I started this book. It's my first book in the hockey romance genre, so maybe it's just not for me. The sex scenes were mostly vanilla, with random unsexy "kinks" thrown in unnaturally. Despite being written by a woman, they felt like they were written for the male gaze, so to speak. I mean, what woman actually wants her asshole finger banged randomly? (I realize some definitely do, and that's totally cool for them.) I did like the female protagonist, she was very likeable!

It was very bland, which was to be expected since it's following the fake dating trope. But it would have been nice if it had some flavor.
